Dürr wins Industry 4.0 Innovation Award

The smart DXQanalyze software impresses the jury with its contribution to the digitalization of industrial production

Bietigheim-Bissingen, 13 January 2022 – Dürr has been successful in the Industry 4.0 Innovation Award, taking first place with the software products from the DXQanalyze family. The smart software gathers available data and evaluates it as a basis for defining appropriate actions. Using machine learning, the software is able to predict possible problems before they occur.

At the end of 2021, the winner of the prestigious Innovation Award offered by VDE VERLAG GmbH in association with the German Electro and Digital Industry Association ZVEI and the Standardization Council Industry 4.0 was chosen for the sixth time. The award focuses on products that contribute to digitalization in industrial production. “The need for digital industrial products is immense. More than just an acknowledgment of our work, we see this award as a motivation to keep advancing digitalization in painting and final assembly systems with our smart solutions,” says Gerhard Alonso Garcia, Vice President MES & Controls, pleased with the outstanding performance.

Gather, evaluate, predict

The products from the DXQanalyze family gather available data such as process and workpiece information and evaluate it. In this way, possible quality defects in workpieces as well as imminent wear on system components can be identified at the point of origin, and appropriate actions can be defined. This data is visualized and can be historically evaluated over long periods of time, in some cases in real time. In addition, large quantities of data, including historical data, can be combined with machine learning to continuously produce precise predictions for the future. This is where the application DXQequipment.analytics comes in. DXQplant.analytics analyzes the data and the documented workpiece quality on a superordinate level, and in this way can draw conclusions about the operation of individual systems along the value chain. By deriving patterns from the correlation between workpiece quality and process operation, it is possible to make corrections to the system’s operation at an early stage.

Machine learning for greater transparency

Using machine learning methods, the software products can identify and predict wear on components and anomalies in production systems based on rules and data. This takes transparency about the operating behavior of machines and systems to a whole new level. DXQanalyze provides information based on specific systems and use cases, enabling it, for example, to forecast the remaining service life of system components or establish links between quality results and machining processes.

Jury impressed by the contribution to the digitalization of industrial production

The award focuses on products that make an important contribution to industrial production. Over several rounds of voting, the jury made up of members of the public and industry experts agreed that DXQanalyze more than satisfies this criterion. The software can be used in new and existing systems, depending on the application. Installation on individual systems (on edge), in a company’s internal network (on premise), or in a cloud environment is supported. At the highest expansion level, the software supports self-organization of systems, for example via access to the PLC level and the ability to stop the production process. This makes it possible to quickly eliminate the problems and anomalies identified by DXQanalyze, while maintaining production quality.
